The Facilities Electrical Engineer leads and is responsible for the overall health, documentation, and operational oversight of the electrical infrastructure. This position is for an experienced professional, overseeing planning, organizing, and scheduling of facilities and equipment maintenance and projects. Responsible for assessment and oversight of building and equipment processes to ensure proper functioning and optimal utilization of the organizations facilities.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Interacts with internal customer’s onsite and receives direction and coordinates with the property or facility management team.
  • Monitors and coordinates the execution of the various services and processes projects including capital improvements, physical plant and infrastructure upgrades, equipment installations, and maintenance and repair work.
  • Perform electrical engineering analysis on various electrical systems and provide support to other project managers and maintenance staff. Must have competency in facility maintenance programs, preventative and predictive maintenance practices, and energy management. 
  • The position will include all aspects of electrical design, system documentation, and analysis. 
  • Oversees the planning, organizing and scheduling of activities and directs design, maintenance, construction, renovation, and repair to ensure proper functioning of the organization’s facilities and equipment.
  • Work together with the project management team, engineers, and hourly trades to foster trust and openness. Develop relationships within these groups to promote customer focus and cohesiveness.
  • Develop preventative maintenance programs and best practices for electrical infrastructure including labelling, testing, predictive & preventative maintenance, and documentation.
  • Responsible for developing and recommending capital improvements to Facilities leadership to maintain equipment health, longevity, and reliability of electrical infrastructure.
  • Provide support for the project management team including review of electrical design documents, shop drawing submittal review, and oversight of electrical workmanship on new installations.
  • Provide guidance and support to electrical engineer(s) for their professional development and execution of his/her projects/assignments.
  • Develop accurate cost estimates to support capital initiatives. Compile backup information to support funding requests and provide project oversight as the project moves from an estimate through design and construction.
  • Oversee the maintenance and expansion of the existing arc flash study. Work with vendors to keep the document updated and facilitate further coordination studies.
  • Develop plant standards to support electrical installations. Work with design team and HBU electricians to develop, review, and implement standards.  Develop project managers to enforce these standards with contractors.
  • Responds to emergency outages and provides technical recommendations and status to facility management.  Takes point with the Utility to work through the outage and determine appropriate corrective actions.
  • Observes all corporate, building, and client/owner policies and procedures and maintains high qualitative and quantitative standards of work performance.
  • Cooperates with other building/facility personnel to achieve goals and objectives as to quality, servicecost and profit.
  • Adheres to government laws and regulations and established rulings of government authorities including building codes, safety regulations, etc

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 7 years of relevant experience OR
  • Advanced degree and 5 years of relevant experience OR
  • In absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Previous experience working in facilities or electrical engineering role on electrical installation, maintenance, repair and upgrade

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working in the aerospace industry
  • Advanced degree in electrical engineering or related.
  • Experience working as an electrical engineer on a mid – large size manufacturing facilities
