Associate Director, Software Engineering – ISR Airborne, Mission Systems
Associate Engineering Director role to manage a multi-disciplinary engineering organization, focused on developing and delivering a wide range of software products to our customers. The team is chartered to develop cutting-edge, integrated missionized Tasking, Processing, Exploitation, and Dissemination (TPED) software products within Mission Systems, in collaboration with the sensor system design team. The Associate Director will work closely with the site Systems / Hardware lead to offer complete solutions to our customers, from new sensor design and development, to mission tasking, processing, exploitation, and dissemination.
Direct a multi-disciplinary organization of Software and Information and Intelligence (I&I) engineers in the development of TPED software to support our sensor systems
Work tirelessly to drive engineering accountability and execution on all programs to assure program commitments are met within proposed cost and schedule
Develop, maintain, and implement software design best practices, processes, and procedures, and ensure the engineering team is properly trained and consistently executes across all our programs
Develop plans to continuously measure and improve engineering execution on new software development efforts
Guide the engineering organization in cost and schedule estimating, proposal writing, sub-tier IPT management, and subcontractor management
Manage long term staffing forecast and plan to support multiple business portfolios
Oversee department talent acquisition, retention and succession planning for key roles, including the Associate Director role
Consistently drive superior results in program execution, keeping programs on schedule and eliminating growth in Estimate at Complete (EAC)
Ensure compliance with Collins Management System, including review and approval of L4 bids and proposals
Capability to assess resource needs within the site with continual monitoring of program activities and their associated loading requirements in the near and long term
Ability to interface with various Value Stream Leads, as well as direct reports within the engineering team
Provide strategic leadership to the engineering organization, and effectively support and communicate the business strategic direction
Must Have Requirements:
Must be a U.S. Citizen
Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 8 years of relevant experience.In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.
Excellent communication skills across all levels of an organization with the ability to facilitate teamwork across functions; ability to communicate technical issues, risks, and status in both written and oral forms
Must display strong organizational leadership competencies (e.g., mentoring, conflict resolution, program management, strategic planning)
Experience with risk and opportunity management, including interface with Value Stream Leaders and external customers
Experience with new software development practices and Agile development processes and tools
Minimum of 25% travel will be required
Advanced degree desired
Experience leading projects in an Agile development environment
