Job Description:

The Value Stream Lead (VSL) is responsible for all manufacturing related activities within a production or depot-manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will report to the Factory Manager and be accountable for the daily management and direction of up to 20+ touch labor employees within two shifts. The VSL will be tasked to define clear operational schedules, priorities, goals, and collaborate with functional support employees to allow for continuous manufacturing of line-flow or end-item products. Additionally, the VSL will have accountability for the quality of production, and depot products, while being delivered on time at or below cost targets.

This position involves direct support of manufacturing activities and requires spending significant amounts of time in and around factory areas. The candidate must be capable and willing
to work extended hours (when required) in a fast-paced deadline driven environment. The ideal candidate will possess the demonstrated skills and experience necessary to perform in manufacturing leadership role.

Shift: 9/80-A - First Shift opportunity (7:00 – 4:30)


The Value Stream Lead is responsible for, but not limited to the following:

Key responsibilities include:
  • Site Leadership interface and interactions
  • Schedule, Quality and Cost performance management of responsible work areas
  • Provide the required resources (facilities, processes, equipment, training, etc.) to ensure all employees work in a safe working environment
  • Communication of customer and site requirements to bargaining unit workforce
  • Interface with support employees including planning, engineering, quality and other Value Stream Leaders across shifts
  • Manage and lead up to 20+ touch personnel
  • Perform a wide variety of sequencing, planning, scheduling, coordinating and reporting tasks in support of the manufacturing workflow
  • Prioritizes project issues and assists in the resolutions process to meet productivity, quality, and organizational goals and contractual delivery requirements
  • Ensure compliance to all pertinent operating procedures, organizational directives and work instructions
U.S. Citizenship status is required, as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Please Note: This position can be a Team Leader II Manufacturing or Manager I Manufacturing based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the position.

Required Experience:
  • Minimum 4 years’ professional experience in manufacturing, operations, production control, military, finance, security or related area
  • Demonstrated leadership experience
  • Experience working with a Material Resource Planning system, Enterprise Resource Planning system or like system (SAP, Expected at Complete, IMDS - Integrated Maintenance Data System, TMSS - Tactical Missile Reporting System)
  • Experience with preparing and/or maintaining compliance for audits
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Must have an active U.S. Secret clearance
Desired Skills/Experiences:
  • Understanding of an Operation Environment (TAKT, Line Balancing, Value Stream Mapping)
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing concepts and/or implementation
  • Knowledge of Bargaining Unit Agreement & Compliance
  • Strong knowledge of Production Control concepts including WIP management and TAKT
  • Understanding of Estimate At Completion (EAC) process and Hours Per Unit (HPU)
  • Ability to conduct employee evaluations and performance discussions, analyze data and develop cost reduction and error proofing projects and coordinate resources to eliminate production capacity issues

Required Education:
  • Bachelor’s Degree required preferably in Engineering, Manufacturing or related field. 12-14 years’ of directly related experience may be considered in lieu of degree depending on level of position.
