Whole Life Engineering (WLE) is responsible for ensuring our products are Safe, Reliable, and Maintainable and delivered on time. WLE consists of multiple disciplines that support engineering, our program offices and our customers. Our WLE disciplines participate in the total life cycle of our products from conception to deactivation. Our focus area is product support, including the following disciplines: Reliability, System Safety and Supportability.

Job Summary:
The Mission Support & Sustainment (MS&S) Department seeks an experienced Systems Engineer based out of Tucson, AZ.


In this role, you’ll be involved in the development and update of technical manuals and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs), as well as the development of processes, procedures, techniques, training devices and equipment used to train civilian and military personnel to operate and support the product. You will also be responsible executing and leading tasks in the areas of Integrated Logistics Support (ILS), Sustainment Analysis and Sustainment Planning, as well as identification and elevation of technical and schedule risks. In addition, you will be performing logistics support and engineering analysis to develop provisioning data (such as readiness-based spares models) in a medium as required by the customer.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • Provide general engineering support for In-Service Support (ISS) activities
  • Develop engineering white papers and presentations to help inform customers and influence support decisions
  • Perform supportability analyses and provide recommendations for long term product support, including but not limited to spares recommendations, maintenance procedure updates, and parts and materials substitutions as needed
  • Ensure the technical integrity, suitable quality, and adherence to standards of the ISS products produced for Logistics, Provisioning, Field Support, Intermediate Level Maintenance, and Depot Level Maintenance through engagement in peer reviews, program reviews, design reviews, failure review boards, investigation teams, and working groups
  • Assist with ISS influence on product design and production
  • Define and promote technical strategies for long-term product sustainment
  • Act as a liaison with all engineering disciplines, such as Systems, Electrical, Mechanical, Test, Materials and Processes, and Structural design functions
  • Represent ISS in the support of failure investigations, failure trend analysis, Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System (FRACAS) participation, flight test planning/preparation, test failure analysis and recommended repair actions
  • Inform and collaborate with the ISS Leadership Team to ensure technical success while balancing goals, approaches, and risks
Domestic & International travel may be required (approximately 10% domestic and 5% international)

An advanced degree in a related filed and a minimum 3 years’ experience may be considered for this role. A PhD can account for 5 years of experience as required for this role.

Qualifications You Must Have:
Education: BS in a STEM discipline or BA in Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science or Chemistry
Employment Experience:
  • 5+ years’ experience in engineering or creating technical manuals
  • Experience in logistics, sustainment, support plans, system fielding, proposals, integration, or life cycle management
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. US citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
