The Integrated Mission Software Systems team seeks an innovative Software Engineering student to work in software development for the aerospace and defense industry.
This position is for a highly motivated individual to work with a team of engineers and interns whose charter is to design and develop the future development and operations (DevSecOps) infrastructure for the IMSE Dept. The team will use industry-wide tools such as Vagrant and Docker to ensure consistent product development and deployment operations.
As a Collins Aerospace Software Engineering Intern, you will work in an Agile environment, designing and developing the baseline platforms for multiple development teams throughout the organization. The tools used for developing this infrastructure include (but are not limited to) Vagrant, Docker, HyperV, Git, Ansible, Packer, Java, C++, GNU Make, Gradle, Ruby, and multiple server operating systems (e.g. Redhat Linux, Windows 10). The ideal candidate will have an interest in software development, security and network configuration, or server administration.
Using Vagrant, develop Vagrant “boxes” to support DevSecOps
Collaborate with your team to ensure sprint demos are functional and demonstrating Vagrant boxes for multiple teams within Collins Aerospace
General understanding of security concepts (i.e. applying security patches) and network configuration
General understanding of virtual machines and virtualization
- Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent and student must be pursuing a Bachelor's or advanced degree in an applicable discipline.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen
- Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Good oral and written communication skills
Strong teamwork skills
Eagerness to work with industry tools such as Vagrant and Docker
Ready to embark on learning a diverse set of operating systems (applied with virtualization), building varied projects on the “guest” virtual machines, and applying testing methodologies to ensure repeatable build/test/deployment environments
Comfortable learning and working with multiple operating systems such as Linux and Windows hosted on virtual machines
Programming experience: Java or C++
Ruby experience, Python experience
Networking experience (TCP/IP, UDP)
Atlassian Tool Suite – Jira, Bamboo, & Confluence
Familiarity with the use of Git in revision control and source code management
