The North Warning System (NWS) is a joint Canada and United States radar system that includes 47 sites spanning the Arctic from Labrador to the Alaskan border. The NWS provides the capability to detect airborne threats across North America’s polar region, providing a command and control capability to the Canadian Air Defence Sector (CADS) of the North American Aerospace Defence Command (NORAD).

Raytheon provides Operations and Maintenance (O&M) services for the NWS including full care, custody, and control of the entire system and its components. This includes the radar sites, five logistics support sites (LSSs), a monitoring and control center, and a repair depot. Key activities include maintenance and repair of radar and electronic systems, power generation, and facilities; logistics support; and remote monitoring and control.

Raytheon Canada Limited (RCL) implements an Inuit Training and Development Program (ITDP) that benefits communities within the Comprehensive Land Claim Agreement (CLCA). The purpose of the program is to actively recruit, develop, and train Inuit Beneficiaries (IBs) for employment on the NWS Program and foster employee-retention and skills development for Inuit Beneficiary employees at all levels.

Raytheon seeks a Project Specialist Trainee (PST) for the NWSO Contracts Management Office in Ottawa, Ontario. A trainee is provided with a combination of on-the-job training and college training courses that lead to becoming qualified in the Project Management field as a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM). Through hands-on and accelerated training, the Trainee program will enable individuals to work and develop the necessary skills to seek jobs not readily achievable prior to entering the program.

The Project Specialist Trainee will develop skills to review Statements of Work (SOWs), Supplier Statements of Work (SSOWs), and Indefinite Quantity (IQ) project proposals, to ensure compliance and document changes during the proposal, implementation and invoicing phases. In addition, the PST will be involved in the planning, execution, control and monitoring of project management activities ensuring coordination and communication flow between the functional groups of Raytheon by working directly with the Lead Project Manager. The oversight of project schedule, interdepartmental communication and submission document quality will be a focus for the PST to ensure maximum performance and minimize risk. The PST will be required to participate in college training classes to advance his/her skill sets and qualifications.

• Good communication skills in both oral and writing, strong interpersonal skills with an ambition to learn and grow Projects knowledge and experience.
• Ability to work independently, in a team environment and cross-culturally.
• Must be able to provide Inuit land claims and registration number(s)

Desired Skills:
• Ability to speak Inuktitut is an asset.
• Working towards a certificate or diploma in areas of project management, supply chain management, or business administration

Required Education (including Major):
• Individuals who have completed high school with a diploma or general equivalency
