Raytheon Intelligence & Space (RI&S) - Advanced Electro-Optical (AEO) Engineering has an immediate opportunity for an experienced Senior / LeadSystems Engineerwith expertise in airborne electro-optical and infrared (EO/IR) surveillance and targeting sensor systems. Expertise should include hardware hand-on experience, requirements management, systems integration, verification and validation testing, establishment of a new factory/production line to support the transition of an engineering prototype into a production system, performance analysis, algorithms, control systems, and optical signal processing capabilities.You will be responsible for leading a multi-disciplinary engineering team developing, integrating, testing, managing requirements, establishing key technical performance measures in support of producing an advanced EO/IR pod sensor system. Additionally the LSE is responsible for maintaining change control of the technical baseline of the program; ensures objectives are achieved on schedule, within budget, and consistent with quality and technical standards. The LSE oversees product ownership across all aspects of the design, integration, and test of the programs work products and may also have control account management responsibilities. The LSE will work closely with the Integrated Product Team Lead and is accountable to the Chief Engineer.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 10 years of systems engineering experience to include airborne EO/IR system design, integration and test, and product transition to production.
  • Demonstrated airborne EO/IR hardware design and/or systems engineering experience in development and production program.
  • Experience with laboratory test, flight test, and qualification of airborne systems.
  • Experience leading derivation of component and product requirements from system level requirements, and analyzing system performance.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining a technical baseline, and leading proactive change control of that baseline.
  • Experience leading design reviews and system/subsystem level IV&V
  • Experience leading proposal technical and cost estimation efforts.
  • Experience conducting technical supplier management of development subcontractors.
  • Strong technical writing and oral communication skills, experience interfacing with senior customer technical representatives and company executive leadership.
  • An active and in-scope DOD Secret US security clearance is required.
  • Willingness to travel periodically in support of offsite testing along with customer and subcontractor meetings

Desired Skills:
  • Factory environment and production experience in commercial and/or defense industries
  • Experience and knowledge of transition to production programs in the EO/IR domain
  • Experience with developing and executing factory test plans, procedures, and equipment
  • Demonstrated success in leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and in control account management
  • Demonstrated production support, troubleshooting, and factory improvement initiative experience
  • Demonstrated success in leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams, and in control account management.
  • Specific knowledge and prior experience with image processing electronics, optics, and cooled focal plane array integration.
  • Prior experience as an IPTL
  • Experience leading customer witnessed testing.
  • Experience in the area of IR sensors, tracking, detection, optical signal processing, and radiometric sensitivity modeling.
  • Experience developing alignment and calibration of EO/IR sensing systems.

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in a related STEM discipline, such as ME, EE, AE, Math, Physics, Optics, or related technical field; advanced degree(s) preferred.

Desired Education:
M.S. in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Math, Physics, or related degree.
