This role will allow you to be part of an integrated, cross-functional team responsible for designing, developing, and testing application software and APIs, drivers that interfaces to both COTS and Collins Aerospace proprietary IO devices for legacy and Next Generation Avionics platforms. The position is located in Heidelberg.

Job Responsibilities

  • Software development in all life-cycle phases according to DO-178C
  • Work closely with program management and interface with customers
  • Work with the Engineering Project Manager to create and maintain estimates of schedule and budget for a complete engineering project
  • Perform estimations for proposals of small to medium sized projects
  • Depending on qualification, engineering functional leadership for all phases of an engineering software development project
Mandatory Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline
  • Experience in Ada, C/C++
  • Experience in safety critical software development (such as DO-178C)
  • Experience in software development processes (Agile, Waterfall, V-Model)
  • Good communication and team work, as much as possible independent work habits
  • Self-motivated to contribute to a positive work enviroment
  • Enjoy learning new technologies
  • Good English skills are desirable

Desirable Qualifications

  • Experience in development of graphical user interfaces with widget toolkits, e.g. VAPS, SCADE, Qt, Java Swing could be helpful
  • Knowledge/usage of Real-Time Operating Systems
  • Experience in embedded software development (e.g. Linux Embedded, Windows Embedded)
  • Experience with open standards relating to operating systems and networking
  • Experience with bus interfaces
  • Experience in ARINC 661
  • Experience in XML
  • Experience in script languages (e.g. Python, Perl)
  • Knowledge of electronics hardware
