Job Title:
Electronics Technician II

Job Description:
The Electronics Technician II (ET II) will support the customer at a facility located at Fort Polk, Louisiana. The ET II position requires comprehensive knowledge of the:
  1. techniques & theories and characteristic of electronics such as a knowledge of basic electricity & electronic theory, algebra, and elementary physics
  2. the ability to apply that knowledge to duties involved in engineering functions such as design, development, evaluation, testing, installation, and maintenance of electronic equipment
  3. knowledge of the capabilities, limitations, operations, design characteristics, and functional use of a variety of types and models of electronic equipment and systems

    Such knowledge is related to but less than a full professional knowledge of electronics engineering.

    Responsibilities
  • Must be able to obtain a DOD Secret clearance within six (6) months of assuming this position
  • Responsible for performing monthly, semi-annual, and annual Preventive Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) to all assigned systems
  • Must continuously monitor assigned equipment status and corrects faults in a timely manner
  • Maintain records all repair, non-repair, and PMCS data into the information management system
  • Required to work in confined crawl spaces and work non-standard work weeks to manufacture and install various types of cables
  • Responsible for all hardware support in support of the Hectic System
  • Must have general knowledge of the operation of the Independent Commercially Compatible Cellular Network System (IC3NS), Xorcom private branch exchange (PBX), and Tellab 1000
  • Must have the knowledge to trace cables, troubleshoot circuits, and installation of analog, digital, and VoIP telephone circuits
  • Must have general knowledge of Global System for Mobile Communications (GSM)
  • Must be able to set-up, troubleshoot and maintain wireless network
  • Must be able to install and program DSL modem on wireless network
  • Required to diagnose and troubleshoot any problems that are associated with the system and work with network administrators, and Senior Computer Network Technologist to resolve all issues
  • Must be a highly self-motivated individual and team player with a solid work ethic and superior interpersonal skills
  • Must possess strong customer service skills and have a positive attitude
  • Must be able to work closely with others in a team environment
  • Must be able to complete tasking / work that requires exercising independent judgement with little or no supervision
  • Must comply with all Company and OSHA standards and wear/use required PPE, as applicable
  • Possess knowledge of small generator operation and maintenance

Required Skills:
  • Must be able to obtain a DOD Secret clearance within six (6) months of assuming this position
  • Experience with networking protocols
  • Experience with networking elements and architecture (routers, switches, hubs, etc)
  • Experience with VoIP protocols (e.g., SIP, RTP)
  • Operational knowledge of GSM based voice and data wireless protocols and standards including subscriber equipment (e.g., Handset, SIM, terminals) operation and management.
  • Knowledge of Server/Client relationships.
  • Knowledge of RF planning and implementation for frequency management.
  • Knowledge of GSM BSS general OA&M to include use of protocol analyzers for QA testing of network equipment.
  • Knowledge of AC/DC power systems to maintain and troubleshoot network equipment.
  • Knowledge of Private Branch Exchange (PBX) equipment.
  • Knowledge of Tellabs equipment.
  • Knowledge and understanding of DOD Information Assurance standards:
  • National Institute of Standard
  • Technology Computer Security Standard
  • Federal Information Security Management Act (FISMA)
  • DOD Directive 8500.1, 8500.2
  • Army Regulation 25-2

Required Education:
High School Diploma. AA Degree in Electronics or related field desirable. Will accept direct work experience for education.
