About This Position:

The Funding Specialist will be responsible for the funding of payroll tax liabilities and expenses as well as accounting and receivable activities within the Global Financial Services (GFS) organization. The candidate will have interaction with all UTC business units and third party vendors (Conduent and ADP).This role will be based in our Farmington, CT headquarters and will report to the Manager of Payroll and Tax Accounting.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the funding of Payroll Tax liabilities and payroll tax expenses. Partner with ADP to ensure all taxes are paid and payroll tax returns are filed in accordance with regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for the accurate validation and processing of refund checks received from the regulatory agencies. Ensure that all refund checks are deposited in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the collection of payroll tax receivables to ensure that tax refunds are aggressively pursued and received in a timely manner.
  • Participate in the daily depositing of federal tax liabilities for equity based compensation. Ensure accounting transactions are accurately reflected in the general ledger and settled in a timely manner
  • Lead and/or participate in projects within the Payroll Accounting Tower relating to payroll tax accounting matters.
  • Work closely with Conduent Payroll Tax Operations to monitor form W-2C and related Adjustmate transactions. Coordinate with ADP to ensure timely filing of amended payroll tax returns.
  • Serve as accounting support for cross-functional initiatives in the Payroll Tower.
  • Ability to support a work schedule with a 7:00AM or earlier start time is required

Required Education / Certifications / Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; preferred fields of study include Finance, Accounting, Business or other applicable field and 5 or more years of general accounting or payroll experience required

Desired Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree in Finance or Accounting preferred
  • Certified Payroll Professional (CPP)

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of Payroll Tax nuances across different states
  • Understanding of tax liabilities, especially pertaining to company stock compensation
  • Experience working with vendors and external entities desired
  • Solid understanding of financial and accounting principles (US GAAP)
  • Experience using ADP Payroll products such asEV5, Smart Compliance, iReports, WorkDay, etc. is a plus
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, especially use of pivot tables and formulas preferred
