Fan Military Development design team is seeking an experienced designer to provide technical leadership. Strong background and expertise in commercial and military Fan, Low Pressure Compressor, and High Pressure Compressor design is desired. If you have relevant design background or experience in these areas and possess the skills and motivation to bring new ideas into practice, we would like to like to hear from you.
Key job functions:
Provide technical guidance and mentoring to design associates to advance their proficiency
Engage the team in the resolution of technical problems within program schedule milestones
Proactively develop mechanical arrangements that result in products and components that are low cost and competitively superior within program schedule milestones
Cradle-to-grave design support, from preliminary through detailed design, development, validation, certification, manufacturing, and operational service
Maintain awareness of emerging trends in mechanical design processes and product technologies to steer the team in the execution of a world class design
Provide support for multidiscipline teams to provide design solutions that balance customer requirements for durability, performance, cost, and weight
Lead root cause investigations and ensure robust product and process corrective actions are implemented
Support development of Engineering Standard Work and Training Material
Ensure outsourcing work is completed, reviewed, and approved by design associates with appropriate proficiency level
Communicate with team leadership and management on status and risks to program schedule and metrics
Coordinate with other groups to read across lessons learned, advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes/methods
Government Security Clearance preferred (and/or no known issues obtaining one as required).
Candidates must be willing to work in an on-site environment.
Candidates must have exceptional problem solving and communication skills.
Significant interaction with internal and external customers is expected.
Communication skills and assertiveness are key qualities to possess.
B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering.
7+ years of Mechanical Design engineering experience or 5+ years with an advance degree
M.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering preferred.
Proficiency in Teamcenter, Unigraphics, Ansys, and classical methods of analysis preferred.
The ability to obtain a security clearance
Candidate should have excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Understanding of hardware, blueprints, and manufacturing methods.
