Position Summary

Electromagnetic and Network Systems Team at Raytheon Technologies Research Center is looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual for the position of research engineer specialized in Electromagnetics and Circuits.

The candidate is expected to work on transitioning novel concepts from early technology stages to a state that impacts and influences businesses and applications. The responsibilities include designing and developing novel electromagnetics components/devices/systems; leading and supporting externally and internally sponsored programs, writing external and internal research proposals; building relationships to support developing business relationships with industry, academia, and government agencies; disseminating research results through reports, conference proceedings, and peer-reviewed articles, and developing intellectual property.

Qualifications & Competencies

The preferred candidate should have a strong understanding of science and engineering principles and a record of innovation as evidenced by patent applications, contribution to government funded basic research programs, and/or high-quality journal and conference publications. She/he must be self-motivated, must have excellent written/verbal communication and strong problem-solving skills. The preferred candidate should have a strong background and understanding of electromagnetics theory, RF circuit and mixed optical and RF designs, their fabrication and testing, as well as electromagnetic systems. A knowledge of emerging materials and structures for RF systems is desirable.

The candidate is desired to have solid skills in one or most of the following areas:

  • active and passive microwave/millimeter-wave/THz-wave circuit/component/system design
  • computational electromagnetics and multi-physics modeling methods and simulation tools
  • electronically scanned phased arrays/radar systems
  • communications theory
  • A record of innovation as evidenced by patent applications, contribution to government funded basic research programs, and/or high-quality journal and conference publications is desired.

Education & Experience

  • Masters Degree in electrical/electronic engineering or relevant discipline with specialization in electromagnetics is required
  • PhD in electrical/electronic engineering or relevant discipline with specialization in electromagnetics is highly preferred.

Work Authorization

US permanent residency or US-citizenship is required.

Location: East Hartford, CT - Relocation offered
