Lead strategic commercial licensing, complex transactions, trademarks, and support of various internal functional groups.  Interact with diverse client set including: Corporate Engineering, Business Development, Communications, and Global Enterprise Services along with RTX Business functional groups, and external parties, such as outside consultants, and prospective licensees. Work closely with Chief IP Transactions Counsel, Director of Technology Licensing and Commercialization, Chief Patent Counsel, Business IP counsels, and outsideconsultants to create strategies to protect and exploit Raytheon technology. This position reports to the Chief IP Transactions Counsel.

• Possess strong understanding of intellectual property laws and ability to provide leadership on intellectual property strategies involving exploitation of company patents, trade secrets, copyrights, and trademarks;
• Identifies monetization opportunities and drives to execution various projects aimed at mining RTX technology for commercial exploitation, lead capture management for various monetization opportunities.
• Prepares commercial licensing agreements including patent licensing, software and technical data package licensing, joint development agreements;
• Prepares and advises on intellectual property terms in complex transactions, including those relating to mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures.
• Lead on software licensing issues, free and open source software processing and compliance
• Work with business development, finance, and communications professionals to develop and protect strong corporate trademarks and domain names.
• Other IP related duties as assigned

Education Requirements

• BS in Engineering or Physical Sciences, MS a plus.
• JD from an accredited law school

Bar Admissions

• Must be a member in good standing of a state bar, and eligible for admission to Massachusetts Bar (e.g. in-house counsel)

Required Experience and Skills

• Must have at least ten years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal with significant intellectual property experience.
• Possess (or meet qualifications to obtain) any required national security clearances.
• Must have experience in presenting to engineers and business leaders.
• Capable of speaking before large groups of both technical and management personnel.
• Experience with US government procurement regulations including the FAR and the DFARS is not required, but a plus.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO preferred.
• Organizational ability and excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Good computer skills and familiarity with standard office software (Word, Excel, Outlook etc.) as well as database tools such as MS Access and IP specific tools such as Memotech, Anaqua, Questel and CaseTrack (Legal Tracker)
• Leadership skills and strong team player
