This position is CONTINGENT upon funding, an open position, customer approval, completion of a favorable background investigation, and the ability to obtain & maintain a USPS sensitive clearance.
An experienced Vulnerability Assessment Engineer is needed to join the Cybersecurity Risk team and collaborates with systems support personnel, CISO and IT teams to architect, engineer and implement vulnerability scanning solution utilizing Tenable security Center to identify vulnerabilities across a large and complex customer network
The ideal candidate for this job must be a subject matter expert with Tenable Security Center, Nessus or similar vulnerability scanning software tool, architecture and implementation
The ideal candidate must have in-depth knowledge of scan architecture and methodology and of troubleshooting issues related to scanning sufficient enough to analyze and recommend changes as needed.
The ideal candidate must be proficient with Splunk including developing complex queries, metrics and dashboards intended for technical and executive audiences.
Job responsibilities and required skills:
Systems and network architecture, engineering, implementation, configuration and maintenance
Developing vulnerability scanning tool network architecture on large and complex networks.
Scanning tool configuration with a focus on performance and efficiency
Developing Splunk queries and developing Splunk dashboards to monitor scans and identify endpoints scanned.
Understanding of common regulatory or standards-based control frameworks such as: PCI-DSS, ISO 27001/2, NIST 800-53, etc.
Knowledge of OWASP, SANS Top 20 Critical Security Controls and NIST Vulnerability Database (CVE & CCE)
Working Knowledge of networking protocols: TCP/IP, HTTP/HTTPs, DNS, etc.
Working Knowledge of Windows and Unix Operating Systems
Solid understanding of information, host and network security, firewalls, and risk management concepts
Ability to work within a multi-disciplined team.
Proficiency with MS Office Applications.
Candidate should also demonstrate attention to detail, have the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and adapt to changes in priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skill to enable building working relationships.
Ability to work in a team environment and work collaboratively across the large customer workforce
The position requires U.S. Person status or a Non-U.S. Person be eligible to obtain Authorization. Must be eligible to obtain a sensitive clearance – Position of Public Trust.
Preferred skills in the areas of vulnerability scanning on mobile and cloud environments as well as web application security
6+ years related work experience
Required Education: Bachelor of Science Degree with a major in Computer Science/Computer Engineering, Engineering, Science or a related field. In lieu of degree, two additional years of related work experience may be substituted for each year of degree-level education.
Certifications (one or more of the following): DOD 8570.1-M Compliance at IAT Level II; CISSP preferred. 169276
