The Fighter, Bomber, and Trainer team is seeking a highly motivated Technical Project Manager who has experience in leveraging existing and development of new technologies to provide innovative systems solutions for fighter, bomber, and trainer systems.

This position is located in Cedar Rapids, IA. A comprehensive relocation package is available.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Directs all phases of programs from inception through completion. 

  • Oversees and coordinates the administrative and operational aspects of ongoing projects within program guidelines. 

  • Liaises between project management and planning, project teams, and line management. 

  • Coordinates the preparation of proposals, business plans, proposal work statements and specifications, operating budgets and financial terms/conditions of contract.

  • Reviews project and budget status, manages schedules and prepares reports. 

  • Monitors and assesses project risks and develops resolutions to meet productivity, quality, and customer-satisfaction goals and objectives. 

  • Represents Collins Aerospace as the primary customer contact for projects. 

  • Directs the work of employees assigned on projects. 

  • Establishes design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test. 

  • Meets program schedules and budgets and maintains the integrated master schedules for project(s).

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience.In the absence of a degree, 11 years of relevant experience is required.

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements

  • Experience in software, hardware, or systems engineering disciplines enabling effective technical leadership during pursuit, capture, and execution of programs.

  • Project management experience, such as planning and tracking projects, performing to a schedule and cost plan, risk management, and reporting program status to leadership.

Key skills for success:

  • Strong collaboration skills that facilitate effective communication with a team of Systems, Hardware and Software engineers, in order to make sound engineering decisions.

  • Must be able to communicate technical issues, risks, and status in both written and oral forms.

  • Make objective and data driven decisions in a timely manner that are in the best interest of the team.

  • Effective time management skills to meet challenging timelines.

  • Excellent problem solving, data analysis, and critical thinking skills.

  • Positive attitude that is adaptable to change, enjoys learning new technologies, and contributes to a positive work environment.

  • Ability to work with remote sites and team members; build relationships with global engineering teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading engineering projects.

  • Familiarity with Agile development.

  • Experience with Atlassian suite of tools, including JIRA.
