This position is for a business development professional of Research and Emerging Technology within our Advanced Solutions team for the Communications, Navigation and Guidance business. We are responsible for innovating, incubating, maturing and transitioning emerging technologies that support a wide range of products and platforms. The environment is fast-paced, highly technical and challenging.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The successful candidate will work with a team of business development and marketing professionals in conjunction with program management and engineering leads, to uncover, pursue and capture new business.

  • Day to day activity includes responsibility for developing, forecasting, and capturing new opportunities and maintaining relationships with existing customers.

  • Develops and presents compelling strategic and business growth opportunities that may include market and competitive analysis.

  • Continually scans environment for business and strategic growth opportunities.

  • Leading and working cross-functional, cross-enterprise teams.

  • Networks with senior internal and external personnel in area of expertise. Represents organization as a prime contact on projects.

  • Interacts with senior internal and external personnel on significant matters, often requiring coordination between organizations.

  • Works on problems of diverse scope where analysis of situations or data requires a review of multiple factors. Demonstrates good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions, where erroneous decisions or failure to achieve objectives would have a serious impact on the organization.

  • Normally receives minimal supervision on day-to-day work and general instructions on new assignments.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10 years of prior relevant experience OR

  • Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 7 years experience OR

  • In absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required

  • U.S. citizenship required

  • Current U.S. Secret security clearance required and must be eligible for Top Secret

  • Direct experience working in the U.S. DoD/DoE/DHS science and technology community (e.g. DARPA, AFRL, ARL, ONR, FFRDCs, UARCs, a national lab) as an engineer or program/project manager.

  • Demonstrated understanding of concepts related to advanced waveforms, 5G, microelectronics design and manufacturing, open systems architecture, radio frequency engineering and digital signal processing.

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience through a combination of academic research, military, government and/or defense aerospace/electronic industry positions.

  • Demonstrated professional verbal, writing and presentation skills

  • Passion to lead and grow the business

  • Position is located in Cedar Rapids, IA but may be remote depending on qualifications.

  • Travel up to 25% may be required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Active U.S. Top Secret security clearance and SCI eligible.

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in a science, technology, engineering or mathematics discipline.

  • Salesforce CRM tool experience.
