Whole Life Engineering (WLE)is made up of several disciplines whose main objective is to influence hardware and systems early in their life cycle to assure effective operation, reliability, maintainability and economical ownership by the customer and end user.

Job Summary:
WLED seeks a Technical Writer/ Interactive Electronic Technical Manual (IETM) Developer who will be responsible for the development and maintenance of Extensible Mark-up Language (XML) Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs) and Training Material created using the EAGLE Publishing System.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Development of IETMs and training material, including material addressing:
  • System functional theory
  • Operations
  • Preventative and corrective maintenance, schematics and illustrated parts breakdowns from compiled engineering technical reports, drawings, and parts lists
  • Train the Trainer Radar courses and identification of required student Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs), and Programs of Instruction (POIs).

Responsibilities to Anticipate:
  • You’ll also participate in the following exercises:
  • IETM validation
  • Customer conferences to ensure manuals conform to contract requirements
  • Identification of supplier manual content requirements
  • Budget and schedule compliance
In addition, you will assist with the following:
  • Development of illustrations, graphics and flow diagrams to support documentation
  • Support contract deliverable documentation
  • Coordinate with Technical Trainers to identify and provide technical manual documents to support Organizational Level training courses

This role is posted as 100% telecommute, with the stipulation that the incumbent be within a reasonable commute of the RTX Tewksbury, MA; Andover, MA and Pelham, NH locations to allow for as needed visits to these sites. Commuting costs to and from the site locations will be the responsibility of the incumbent.

An Advanced degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience may be considered for this role.

Qualifications You Must Have:
Education:: Bachelor's degree OR 8+ years of relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree. (Two years of related work experience can substitute for one year of college education)
Employment Experience:
  • 5+ years’ experience combining logistics support and creating written technical or non-technical documentation in a military or civilian environment.
  • Experience with Logistics Management Information (LMI) and the use in the development of technical documentation
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a US security clearance. US citizenship is required as only US citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Qualifications We Value:
  • Related experience in logistics support, system fielding and implementation or project or program life cycle management
  • Experience writing specifications for technical publications
  • Experience with Data Module Publishing Systems used to produce Technical Manuals (TM) and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM)
  • Experience with Extensible Markup Language (XML) Editors
  • Experience with S-1000D international specification for technical publication or MIL-STD- 40051-1/2
  • Experience with Enhanced Automated Graphical Logistics Environment (EAGLE) and/or Eagle Publishing System (EPS)
  • Prior experience using technical documentation in a military environment
  • Prior experience developing technical documentation for the Department of Defense or foreign military customers
  • Six Sigma Specialist (or other similar certification)
